Where to find help
112 — the single emergency number
For emergencies, including an immediate danger to life or health. According to the Special Telecommunications Service (Serviciul de Telecomunicații Speciale), 112 is available across Romania from every public telephone network; calls are taken by 112 operators and passed on, depending on the emergency, to the ambulance service, SMURD, the police, the fire service, the gendarmerie or Salvamont (mountain rescue).
Local mental health centres
On its frequently asked questions page, ONJN says that people who feel that gambling is getting out of control can seek professional counselling at a mental health centre in their area, and points to the map of services published by the National Centre for Mental Health and Anti-Drug Action (Centrul Național de Sănătate Mintală și Luptă Antidrog), a public institution under the Ministry of Health. ONJN states that it does not work directly with specialised centres.
